I’m starting to think about travel snacks and how I will survive a 14 hour flight to India while potentially being on a flight with no vegan and gluten free food. Panic attack! I really love roasted chickpeas, but I always feel like they are never quite crunchy enough, and sort of a letdown. Let me tell you, air fried chickpeas are far superior to roasted! You will never look back again. Combined with homemade, healthy Dorito style seasoning, I dare you not to eat the whole bowl! These chickpeas are vegan, gluten free, oil free, and they are the protein snack you need to survive a road trip, long flight, or a long day of Netflix! This is how we made it:
Ingredients:
1 15 oz can chickpeas, drained
2 tsp nutritional yeast
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp cumin
¼ tsp paprika
¼ tsp chili powder
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp garlic powder
Few grinds pepper
Pinch of cayenne
Directions:
In a small bowl, add the chickpeas.
In a very tiny bowl, mix together the seasonings.
Top the chickpeas with seasoning mix and toss around.
Spray your air fryer basket with a little oil or use parchment paper. Add the chickpeas, spray with a little more oil (optional), and cook at 390 F for 25 minutes, opening the basket to shake every 5 minutes so they don’t burn!
Eat them immediate or store them in a glass container.
