Creamy Cacao Chia Milkshake

It’s almost summer, but on the west coast the weather has been a little chilly and cloudy. I’ve been feeling the lack of sunshine and struggling with seasonal affective disorder and just feeling overall down even after supplementing with Vitamin D drops. I’ve been trying to find ways to work more omega 3s into my diet through chia seeds, and decided to make my favorite summer breakfast this morning. Is there anything more indulgent than a chocolate milkshake? Here’s an awesome guilt-free milkshake that also has a chia boost and some some possible energy boosting add-ins if the June gloom is getting to you as well! This is how we made it:

Creamy Cacao Chia Milkshake

Ingredients:

1 banana (preferably frozen)

1/2 avocado

1 cup almond or coconut milk

2 tbsp raw cacao

2 tbsp natural peanut butter

2 tbsp chia seeds

1 date or 1 tbsp maple syrup

½ cup ice

Optional add-ins:

1 tsp maca (for balancing hormones)

¼ tsp chaga mushroom powder (for energy)

½ tsp moringa (for a neurotransmitter boost)

¼ tsp turmeric (for fighting inflammation)

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a high powered blender and serve in a fancy cup.
