I love lemonade in the summer, but I don’t love all of the sugar. Lemons are detoxifying and good for digestion, and hibiscus is packed full of vitamin C and has antihypertensive properties, so it’s good for hypertension. Plus, it’s super pretty and delicious AF. This is how we made it:
Ingredients:
14 cups water divided
1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
2 cups fresh lemon juice
½ c Maple syrup
Directions:
Heat 8 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the hibiscus flowers, and let cool to room temperature.
Add the hibiscus tea to a gallon container straining out the hibiscus flowers. Add the remaining 6 cups of water, the lemon juice, and the maple syrup, and give it a good stir.
Serve over ice.
